Nobody enters a relationship with the anticipation, understanding, or acceptance that one day, they will have to say goodbye. Death and taxes, right? We joke about it, but we often avoid the harsh reality of death and the painful, sometimes miserable grieving process of the surviving loved ones.

As a therapist, I question why we avoid this reality.
