In this memoir, Rev. Edna Riggs reflects on the milestone events, key figures, and life decisions that have shaped her faith journey from childhood to retirement. From growing up in a working-class North Carolina family still recovering from the Great Depression to raising three children and caring for an adult family member amidst the chaos of an unstable home, her writing offers unique insights on navigating one's spiritual path amidst challenges such as poverty, grief, and self-doubt. Centering on her midlife call to ministry as an elder in the United Methodist Church, Rev. Riggs's story is a reminder that God can work through each of us to shine his light in the world and turn our greatest struggles into sources of inspiration and spiritual renewal. Elusive Shadow's passionate exploration of faith, education, and love invites readers to be open and curious about God's potential to use their own life to transform the lives of others.
