      A Whodunnit with a Difference

I can safely say I have not read a book quite like this before! Told from the first person perspective of a person in a persistent vegetative state, this is a whodunit with a difference as our heroine tries to solve the mystery of why she is where she is, and who may be responsible. This all happens through a mixture of fragments of memory slowly coming back to her and overheard snatches of conversation in her hospital room. Not only is there a possible attempted murder, but also the fraudulent theft of a large amount of money... and the evidence seems to be pointing the person in the bed. I can't say too much more about the plot without spoilers, but there are several unexpected twists that kept me reading just one more chapter. Its intriguing stuff with vivid descriptions, well-drawn, believable characters with qualities and flaws, and some fascinating thoughts on what constitutes life and our place as humans in a big, mysterious universe.
