The Curtain Between Us is a Christian dystopia with hints of utopian themes, historical twists on biblical classics, and references toward feminist literature and psychology.
Using familiar modern anxieties about the changing world order and Cold Ward themes of a nuclear holocaust, The Curtain Between Us predicts a post-nuclear world with isolated communes, roaming bands of lost souls, a depressed teenager, and a mother's love.
The book jumps between narratives ranging from the perspective of the first woman, a cursed daughter and orphaned son, an outcast from a utopian mountain commune, and a cat living through the end of the modern age.
The Curtain Between Us describes the physical and spiritual barrier imposed between God and man: Throughout these stories, history continues to progress as mankind's darkness ravages those around him. Broken souls are scattered throughout the book, and "the song of the broken," an eerie ballad of lament and longing, is interwoven between the characters. The origin of the song is a mystery. But so is the concept of existence itself.

I am pleased to recommend "The Curtain Between Us," a Christian dystopian novel authored by my friend, Jenny Liang.
"The Curtain Between Us" is a powerful novel that creatively incorporates bible stories we all know with our modern fears of eschatology and societal collapse. Familiar Christian characters are featured in its pages, alongside a narrative from a cat during the end of the world, a girl raised in an isolated cult commune, a rogue boy protective of his scarred mother, and a depressed twentieth-century teenager haunted by vivid dreams.
But most importantly, Liang wrote a novel that depicts the depths of sin, shown through a fallen world, and an overwhelming grace that ties us all together.
The symbol of a Curtain depicts mankind's tangible separation from God through our sin. We can see that clearly today, with horrific evils happening globally. But we, like the characters in "The Curtain Between Us," each have a chance for redemption.
What does it mean to be human?
I encourage everyone who feels called to support Jenny Liang, a young writer, Christian, and a local conservative running for state office in House District 40A:
