The Dark Faith is set in a world similar to Dark Ages Europe, the story is centered upon a young man named Morumus. When angelic prophecy and tragedy intervene, Morumus is sent away from the island of Aeld Gowan to the greatest center of learning on the Continent. In the course of his studies, Morumus helps unmask a conspiracy involving a dark order moving secretly within the shadows of the Church. But before news of the conspiracy can be made public, Morumus’s superior is betrayed and murdered, and Morumus himself is forced to flee the Continent. Morumus returns to Aeld Gowan to find the dark order moving in Aeld Gowan. With those who remain faithful, he must find a way to stop their menace, quiet the swords of their hordes, and extinguish the ambitions of the Scarlet Bishop.
