Jefferson Tate and Martha Wilson, both widowed, are not expecting to love again. An attraction at their meeting grows into love and an eventual wedding.

Jefferson Tate was a widower living in Kansas, and Martha Wilson a widow living in Nebraska. Neither ever expected to love again. Then Martha's son, Josh, and Jefferson's daughter, Jerilyn, met, fell in love, and planned a marriage. Jeff and Martie were asked to be attendants; their first meeting was at the rehearsal. Although there was an instant attraction, and the two kept in touch by email, texts, letters, and phone calls, there was no expectation for more than a long-distance friendship. But as the rest of their children married, they spent more time together, allowing their initial feelings to grow into a deep love and a wedding of their own.
