Caleb is a Union soldier who is returning home to his family's ranch after the Civil War and is just finding out that his mother has died. Caleb finds out that, in his mother's will, she made a stipulation: he and his brothers must marry and live on the ranch within a year of her death, or the ranch will be lost to all of them.

Emily is an orphan who is working as a maid at the ranch. Will they find love, or will the ranch be lost?
