Leaving the family legacy behind at twenty-eight years of age, Rachel takes a leap of faith on her own. Pursuing the goal she's had since a teen, Rachel is in a new state, living alone in a garage apartment, and ready to take her seat as a freshman at Chadwick East. However, arriving late to her first class, dressed like Barbie's little sister, and getting caught talking in class like a seventh grader, she is not off to a good start...

Standing in the way of Rachel's success is the professor known to be the handsomest and meanest on campus. Dr. Thornton makes a habit of thinking the worst and expecting the most.
