A collection of scripts for three evangelistic Christmas dramas by Randy Pilz for use in churches, schools, and other organizations. Two are original stories ("The Greatest Love" and "The Christmas Runaway"), and one is a special adaptation of Charles' Dickens' "A Christmas Carol." Each script contains suggestions for Christmas music to be used with the dramas. They were all originally produced at Falls Baptist Church in Menomonee Falls, WI.
"The Greatest Love" is a drama set in the epic siege of Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge in December, 1944. A veteran squad of U.S. paratroopers reacts to a new replacement who is a devout Christian.
"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13
"The Christmas Runaway" is a drama based on themes from the Book of Jonah. Set in Rhode Island in 1811, a troubled college student struggles with hatred and the clear call of God to a mission field he refuses to accept. Instead of being swalled by a whale, he is captured at sea by the British Navy in the months before the War of 1812.
"But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD . . . ." Jonah 1:3a
"A Christmas Carol" is a special adaptation of Dickens' Christmas classic. In this "ghost-free" version, the Holy Spirit uses the Word of God and a guilty conscience to break through the crust of a bitter, selfish old man. Scrooge doesn't merely turn over a new leaf, he turns to new life through faith in Jesus Christ.
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." 2Corinthians 5:17
All three dramas have also been rewritten as novels/novellas by Randy Pilz and are available at Amazon.com. "The Greatest Love" was novelized as A Battle More Desperate. "The Christmas Runaway" was novelized as David Youngman: Runaway Missionary. The special adaptation of "A Christmas Carol" was novelized as The Passing Away of Cephas Steele (the charactors' names and the place were changed out of respect to Charles Dickens).
