And, a seventeen year-old son, Dumas-who maintains that life is lived in 25 year stages-wants to breed horses with his grandfather. These three generations of family encompass the three phases of life. His seventy-one year-old father, Akil, is dealing with prostate concerns and has always been a positive influence in Sergio' life but it is difficult to watch him try to come to terms with Althea's problems. Althea, Sergio's sixty-four year old mother, is dying of AIDS. And the family believes she contacted it from her thirty-one year-old prayer partner, Rev. Gillespie.
