While growing up in the small town of Destiny, Missouri, as the daughter of commercial beef producers, Jessie Franklin develops strong values that include a relationship with God. When she leaves to attend college in St. Louis, she has no idea that her values will eventually be challenged in ways she never imagined. When she returns to Destiny six years later for a summer visit, Jessie soon realizes that she is not the only one who has changed. As she reconnects with old friends and meets new ones, Jessie tries to acclimate to a town seemingly locked in time.
