The end has come. The fight for Tulo's future begins. It's a city on the edge of anarchy. The Watches have been reset to zero — branding every citizen a criminal — and the drones are striking without mercy.

As chaos erupts in the streets, Ajay is the only one who might be able to reverse the disaster. But he's still a wanted man, and every move brings him closer to death... or redemption.

Genni is torn between loyalty and justice, love and survival. As she builds safe houses in the shadows and grapples with betrayals that cut deep, her path collides with old enemies and impossible choices. Her brother has orders to arrest her. The regime wants her silenced. And yet, a spark of hope refuses to die.

Told through six gripping perspectives, First Dawn Breaks is a haunting, high-stakes conclusion where trust is fragile, power is deadly and freedom demands sacrifice.

In a world built on merit, what happens when the system collapses?

This is the final book in the four-book Merit Hunter series - where people constantly strive for merit in order to attain Glorified status - and we left book three with the city in turmoil. The story is told through the eyes of several of the main characters and goes at quite a pace, so I found it a different kind of page turner than the others because I felt like I was rushing along with the unfolding story. I'm a bit of a fangirl of this series now and was blessed to receive a copy of book four in advance. I loved reading this to find out how it was all going to end. I can't give away any plot spoilers so I will just say it is well worth a read if you like dystopian fiction and have followed the series so far! There are no Christian characters but there is an interesting 'Guiding Light' object that features throughout the series and you get to find out a bit more about this in books 3 and 4. I like it when Christian themes can be included so well without a book preaching to me. It therefore makes it a good gift for someone who isn't a Christian because it is just a darn good read!
