John 4:4-42 offers us a model of how to come out of this spiritual quagmire dealing with Christ, our spiritual master. Like Christ did to the Samaritan woman, He is to take us beyond our wells - that is, our comfort zones and the makeshift paradises that the well of Jacob symbolizes and to that living water, which gives our religious life its meaning and value. It is a dialogue that will turn our consecrated lives into joyous life and not life sentence; turning our careers to charisms, businesses to apostolate, doings to living; competitions to companionship, preying to praying, lust to love and many others. It is a journey that will bring the "Cana joy" back to our homes, where we feel the presence of Christ - which changes sad and embarrassing situations of life.
