Jane is an extraterrestrial scouting Earth to determine if her people will be able to conquer it, as they have so many others, Her investigations exploit the information on the internet, but she is confused by the information on God. There seems no consensus on whether he is real, much less if the planet would be protected by him. She undergoes genetic re-engineering in order to live among humans and try to learn the answers to her questions. Along the way, she finds herself starting to become human on the inside as well as on the outside. Will she retain her loyalty to her species, switch to supporting humans, or find a way to save both?
