Years after their defeat at the Battle of Michmash, the Philistine army has recovered its strength and returned to invade Israelite lands, this time aided by warriors of immense stature and bred for one purpose: death.

Tormented by insomnia and plagued by nightly terrors, King Saul fears he has lost his divine favor and evades battle with the Philistine champion and giant, Goliath. King Saul is elated when an audacious young shepherd named David emerges to fight in the name of Israel's God. His improbable, seemingly divine victory wins David both the unwavering support of the warrior Prince Jonathan and the jealousy of the mad King Saul.
