It is based on the true story of Maya Collins, who valiantly battled leukemia for 6 1/2 years, and passed away on October 3, 2017 at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. A touching story, sprinkled throughout with Maya's whimsicle drawings, that tries to make sense of such a tragedy and provides comfort to families dealing with a similar loss of a child.
