The dictionary definition of a paradox is a seemingly absurd or self-contradictory statement or proposition that when investigated or explained may prove to be well founded or true. The teachings of the Bible include many paradoxes. The ways of God's Kingdom and the ways of this world are diametrically opposed. They are completely and directly in opposition to each other. From a worldly perspective the ways of the Christian life seem foolish. Sometimes however, we as Christians find ourselves thinking like the world. These short devotions are intended to serve as reminders that God's ways are not man's ways and to help us to flip our thinking upside down back to where it belongs. It is my prayer that these paragraphs lead you to a new understanding, or to a renewed appreciation, of the timeless but paradoxical truths of God's Word.
