Researchers into the illness have likened CFS/ME to late-stage AIDS or patients undergoing chemotherapy.Myalgic Encephalomyelitis is a devastating neuroimmune disease which affects all body systems including the neurological, digestive, muscular, immune, endocrine and cardiovascular systems. It is often triggered after a viral infection and it is a chronic disease that can be lifelong. There is no cure. Despite being recognised by the WHO as a neurological condition with a physical cause in 1969, 80% of doctors still believe it is psychosomatic. Approximately 250,000 suffer from it in the UK and an estimated 2.5 million Americans. 25% of patients are bedbound or housebound.I was among the 25% group, having used a wheelchair and spent many years of my life confined to bed. It's very rare for people like me to recover from CFS/ME/fibromyalgia. If God hadn't healed me I would probably not be here. Because doctors didn't believe it was a real disease this affected my marriage, my family and friends, who struggled to know what to make of my condition. My GP, in his wisdom, decided the best place for me was a psychiatric unit, where I was humiliated and put on a graded exercise regime (when I couldn't even speak or sit up). I often had to ask the hospital cleaner to get me fresh water to wash my hands nor did anyone give me a bed bath during the 9 months there. But God helped me, not only to get out of the psychiatric unit but showed me His pathway to health and freedom, how to keep my healing and what blocks healing. Rather than focussing on the disabling illness, this is my spiritual journey that brought me victory. Looking at twelve key areas, this book is filled with: spiritual truths I learned along the way, mini-stories of what happened to me, meditations and scripture - this is a practical book on the road to recovery. In it I am honest, in order to help you become free from long term ill-health and to stay well. You don't however, have to be ill in order to benefit from this book, as these are spiritual pathways to help prevent sickness and live life as God intended. I also highlight the pathways not to take in life.
