The life of Madeleine Sophie Barat expresses quite simply that "the world can change by action of the heart."

This woman, born in 1779 into a world in a world in the midst of revolution and seeking new points of departure, found in the Heart of Jesus the source of spiritual and social rebirth. Immersed in the austere Jansenism of her childhood, she was captivated by the compassionate love of God and gave herself entirely to him.

Among pioneers of education for women, she had an intuition of an integrated formation based on interiority involving the whole person, who would be committed to the transformation of the world.

The apostolic fruitfulness of Madeleine Sophie was nourished by the fire of love in the tradition of those men and women who have contemplated and radiated the human and divine love of the Heart of Jesus throughout the history of the Church.

On December 8, 2024, relics of Saint Madeleine Sophie were placed in the new high altar of the cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris.
