What can stop RJ from squashing just another bug? What can Clea do to stop from being stomped on? As RJ's big foot heads for its target, she bursts into song: "Please don't end my life right here on this dusty old road. I've managed to escape a bird, a cat, and a grumpy toad."

That catches young RJ's attention and opens a dilemma. What if his friends see him talking to a bug? What will they think? And what about Clea? Will she and her friends survive the big foot? Can the clever caterpillar befriend RJ and build a friendship?

Author Linda Rae Schaal draws her inspiration for children's stories, poetry, musings and narrative, from real life experience and observation; having published some of her work in local magazines, such as Colorado Life and the KC Electric, periodical, while running a weekly column in surrounding community newspapers. She pens limericks for greeting cards and has published several newsletters. Clea the Clever Caterpillar is the first in the Clea series with three additional books planned for next year.
