The Scriptures (i.e. the Bible) can be read historically, for pleasure, for literary purposes, for wisdom, and/or for pure knowledge. There is a place and time for each of these. But above all, God intended His Word to be a vehicle. You get in a vehicle to go somewhere. It is no different with the Bible. The Lord has given His Word to us so that we can more easily access His Presence. Reading the Bible is about you and Him experiencing each other.
