Weeping During the Night, But Joy in the Morning depicts Dr. Flagg's painful experiences, as well as her joyous moments. Her experiences involved areas such as, heart-break, traumatic events, sexual molestation, estrangement, relationships, forgiveness, reconciliation, grief, redemption, healing, thankfulness, and God's purpose for her life. The book details how God created something beautiful out of her experiences and brought bountiful blessings and triumphs.

Weeping During the Night, But Joy in the Morning, a memoir, is not written in chronological order. Dr. Flagg's memoir is a reflection of her memories of specific events from various time periods which are meaningful to her, as well as emotions and triumphs. Her memoir conveys that in spite of everything, God created "beauty for ashes" (Isaiah 61:3).

Dr. Flagg hopes to encourage those of you who may be experiencing challenges such as: hoping against all hope, feeling despondent, crying out, losing faith, and wanting to give up, to instead persevere despite the odds, while rejoicing in victory.
