Defining moments in life are seldom planned. Three years without electricity, and longer without running water was never the idea; it just happened as a curious part of Roger and Jeanie Staub's move from a new home in suburban Phoenix to homestead 20 acres in rural Northwest Arkansas. With their sons, Steve and Michael, the Staub's built their cabin with hand tools and a chain saw. Though challenging, the adventure was sweetened by a rich diversity of experiences with the land, the animals, the country folk, and the quiet way of life along the dirt roads.
