This vintage book contains a biographical sketch of Fr d ric Ozanam and a historical account of the foundation of the Society of St. Paul, a catholic organisation created in 1833 and dedicated to service the poor. Antoine-Fr d ric Ozanam (1813 - 1853) was a French scholar, journalist, lawyer, and rights activist who founded the Conference of Charity (also known as the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul). As he was beatified in the Cathedral of Notre Dame de Paris in 1997 by Pope John Paul II, he is often referred to by Catholics as Blessed Frederic. Contents include: "Life of Frederic Ozanam", "The Establishment of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in England", The Development of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Throughout the World", "The Future of the Society". "The Centenary Celebrations in Paris and Manchester", "Ozanam and Christian Democracy", "Catholic Emigration", etc. Many vintage books such as this are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive. We are republishing this volume now in a modern, high-quality edition complete with the original text and artwork.
