When God calls his people home, he expects to see progress - a transformation from a broken creature of this world into a citizen of the Kingdom of Heaven.

If we're not making progress on the map - moving steadily from this world to the next - then something is wrong. The Lord has reason to believe that our claim to be a Christian is either ignorance or a lie.

"Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? - unless indeed you fail to meet the test!" (2 Corinthians 13:5)
