The late preacher W. A. Criswell used to preach a series of sermons called the Scarlet Thread through the Bible. Cut the Bible open at any verse, and it will bleed Christ. Christ IS the Word of God! Studying a book written by an infinitely wise God having an infinite number of personal applications, the study of the trail of blood could be taken through a host of different trails. To pursue just one trail is a monumental task. The verses examined in this booklet will only be representative because every book of the Bible contains Christ, often in a multitude of ways. Some might say, 'I know that Christ is revealed in the Scriptures. What is the purpose of this booklet?' Jesus Christ took time to expound the Scriptures concerning Himself. On the road to Emmaus we see Christ preaching and teaching. "And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself." Jesus began in Genesis and taught through the Old Testament the Scriptures concerning Himself. May the reader say with the men whom Jesus taught that day, "And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?" May the reader want to experience heart burn like those men did that day.
