This book provides a helpful reflection upon an issue regularly noticed by Gospel scholarship: Jesus consistently asks questions, and even responds to questions posed to him with a further question. Outside this scholarship, John McLaughlin's reflections on this literary phenomenon are consistently directed to a popular audience. The pervasive use of the literary form of a question enabled the Gospel authors to present Jesus' rejection of superficiality.
