God made man "in his own image" - because Adam was created to rule the earth.

But with his rebellion against God, Adam was forced to live in this cursed world as the animals do: "without God and without hope." The doors to Heaven were slammed shut; now mankind must live in emptiness, loneliness, and destitution. Like the animals, "All the toil of man is for his mouth."

When Jesus was baptized by John in the Jordan River, he took upon himself a role that no human being will ever fully comprehend: to transform an animal into the Son of God.
