The story in Daniel 6 has considerable relevancy in today's world. Have you ever been thrust into your own den of lions? Has some outside force or individual ever plotted against you? Have you ever been terrified at the prospect of being mauled and destroyed? Did you experience feelings of abandonment and vulnerability? Perhaps you thought: "I will not survive" as the predators began gathering around you. In this crucial moment, where did you look for strength and courage? Did you ask God for deliverance? Or was the terror so strong that you were paralyzed with fear? Did you freeze, unable to take any meaningful action to save yourself? Perhaps you asked God for an angel to protect you, just like the one he sent Daniel.

We have all been thrown into the Lion's Den at some point in our human lives. Most of us survived, but perhaps still carry the scars of physical, emotional and spiritual attacks. Often our human journey can proceed for years without any major incident or upset. However, the nature of modern life almost assures that a den of lions awaits us.
