The key attribute of this book is to sensitize the Christian about the evitable of both Trial And Temptations in their lives; and it is purposed to clarify that though it is impossible to evade Trial: it is entirely opposite with Temptations.
Temptations are those little or big stumbling blocks and snares the devil cast at us in order to derail us or shift our focus from God; so in that moment of aversion we may fall off and/or walk on or fall prey to his many devices. Temptations are solely the attempts of the devil to cause us to fall from Grace and in to sin/ habitual sin. They are not by any means meant for our good; but to derail us from the Truth; so we may be the devil's cohorts; slaves or servants of sin as him; being the devil. One quick thing to point out is that the devil is not a leader but a follower, a servant of sin. Where there is no sin, he has no hold nor stand.
John 8:34-36 KJV Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever. If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
Though Trial And Temptations totally mean two totally opposite things; one would soon find that the words are too often used interchangeably in the sense that a conversation that began with Trial may end up ending up mixed in to Temptations. A thing that needs one to pore and pick carefully; for one apostle would say God tempteth not: but the other would use tempt to loosely mean moment of Trial. The simplistic writings of apostles like Paul would mix and mar but James is obviously cautious and outlines them carefully. This is to say in the readings of one apostle you would easily start with Trial and end with Temptations in the same conversation but the other picks the Nitty-gritty of the subject matter meaning you are to be aware and careful whom you read from; in order to gorge out the true essence of the meanings of both Trial And Temptations. We are to distinguish the paradox and evitate on both as two diametric subjects and their beginning and ending.
James 1:13-15 KJV Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
Temptations are for the destruction of the righteous: but Trial is for the promotion and strengthening of the righteous. The Trial also is for chastity: but Temptations are to reduce us to the trench of Self-Destruction.
