Drawing on contemporary archaeological findings, this work presents a concise history of ancient Israel from its pre-historical beginnings to the post-exilic period. He provides a cogent and condensed discussion of events illustrated by charts and insets that make the book approachable. Where appropriate, the book also draws on advances in historical geography, as well as comparative cultural materials from other ancient Near East civilizations.
