The book of I Kings is among the historical writings in the Old Testament, but is far more than historical. It has many lessons for us as we plod thru all the details of Temple construction and the various kings in the divided kingdom. In I Kings, we find the valuable lesson of how defiance of God brings judgement while obedience brings blessings. A mixed among this valuable lesson are many applicable themes for us today.
