Ludwig Lavater considered the book of Ruth as having "the greatest usefulness to all parts of life." His exposition of its "precious jewels" of "exceptional worth" have meant that his sermons have always been considered an important study. Now they have been brought into the modern era with a new translation by Michael Hunter and a biographical introduction by Jonathan Gibson. This makes accessible these biblically rich sermons from an important historical pastor/scholar. They promote virtuous living for Christian men and women and culminate with the genealogy of David pointing us to Jesus Christ.
