Parables : The Greatest Stories ever told – Retold

focuses on the better known of Jesus’ parables and rewrites them as situations in modern life which correspond to the situations in Jesus’ day. They attempt to promote the same teaching that Jesus was giving in the original parable. Each parable is preceded by a modern Biblical translation of the parable and is followed by ten questions which are suitable for a person’s private devotions or for use in the context of a group Bible study. The author is well aware that nothing he could write would be an improvement on Jesus’ original teaching and questions include an opportunity to explore how far the modern version of the parable succeeds in reinforcing the teaching intended in the original parables and in what ways it may fall short. This should enable the reader to pay special attention to what the original parable was intended to convey.
