Solomon, in his worship of the Lord, penned these beautiful words as the Song of Songs. Throughout the ages, it has seemed a mystery who he is talking about. However, upon studying this book, it becomes clear that he is employing typology to reveal some of the most profound truths of this great love story.
As we examine these verses, it will become clear that the two main characters are Christ and His Church. The name beloved is the name for Christ. My love, my fair one, my dove are names for the bride. The daughters of Jerusalem are the name for the Old Testament saints, the virgins identify the tribulation saints, and the concubines refer to the Gentiles that will be saved in the tribulation period.
I pray that this study challenges you to faithfulness in reaching souls for Christ and glorifying our wonderful Redeemer, who will one day soon return for His bride.
But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
~ I Thessalonians 4:13-15
