The book "Judges - As Relevant as Ever" is a Bible study resource for group leaders or individual Christians. The book of Judges is surprisingly relevant for modern Christians because it reminds us of our deep sinfulness and God's abundant grace.This is NOT a text by text study. It is thematic. We ask the questions that modern people ask today and reflect on those questions. We try to lay out the big picture by focusing on why Christians believe what we believe.After Moses and Joshua "there arose another generation who did not know the Lord or the work that he had done" They did what was evil in the sight of the Lord (Judg. 2:10-11). The book describes their progressive decline into idolatry to become like all of the other nations around them.It describes victory and defeat and reminds all of us of our sinfulness as well as God's grace.Let's remember Paul's prayer: "Brothers and sisters, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. 2 For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. 3 Since they did not know the righteousness of God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. 4 Christ is the culmination of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes."
