Jeremiah lived approximately 100 years after Isaiah. Where Isaiah had been able to save Jerusalem from Assyria, Jeremiah was unable to turn Judah and save them from Babylon. This book is one of the final efforts to turn Judah back to God before they were taken into Babylonian captivity. Jeremiah\'s job was a difficult one. For over 40 years he delivered a message of doom to a stiff-necked people. Jeremiah dates many of his messages but the book is put together more topically than chronologically. The message is clear. \"Surrender to God is the only way to escape the upcoming calamity.\" This book was dictated to and written down by a man named Baruch. The writing of these prophecies dates to the fourth year of Jehoiakim.
