John wrote his gospel to convince his audience that Jesus was the Messiah- their promised rescuer. First century Jews expected the Messiah to come as the eternal King- the Son of David who would reign forever. He would be the fulfillment of Israel's prophecies, priesthood, kingly line, and all its history. John opens his gospel with a burst of worship and declares that Jesus is the true Prophet, Priest, and King God's people had been waiting for. God's grace and truth had come through Jesus Christ.

What does this mean for us? Through Jesus Christ, God invites humanity back into the intimacy with him we were created for. John 1-3 leads us to behold the beauty of the Son of God in this 16 - lesson study through Scripture, questions, and teaching.
