“Go, marry an unfaithful woman.”

Not exactly the assignment you want to hear from God. Yet it was what God asked Hosea to do, giving the prophet a unique understanding of what God was experiencing as his people turned away from him and worshiped false gods.

Then God gave him messages for his unfaithful people—messages of warning and caution, messages hinting at redemption and grace, messages spoken to beckon them near to their husband-God. They were messages that made a big deal of a big love—a love too jealous to tolerate competition.
