This book will introduce the reader to a method of Biblical interpretation pioneered by Emanuel Swedenborg, which is to understand sacred scripture as a spiritual parable written in correspondences, which is a specific language derived from the metaphysical basis of the universal reality. Each element of the scriptural narratives has an inner symbolic meaning that is not visible on the surface. The method is here applied to the Gospel narrative, and the story of Jesus is then understood as a profound and enlightening description of the universal journey of spiritual self-realization which we all eventually complete.
