From action-packed read-alouds to super bright board books, I’ve pulled together the best Christmas books especially to share with toddlers this festive season.
It’s fair to say the stable in which Jesus was born was probably not super serene. Between lowing cattle, harking angels and visits from shepherds, the little Lord Jesus might have been sleeping but I’m not convinced it was quite the peaceful golden hour that Mary hoped for! A Very Noisy Christmas embraces the chaos of the stable scene with opportunities to shout, shush and stomp, perfect for getting your Very Noisy toddlers involved in the Christmas story.
Recommended Age: 2-6 years
Shiny and brightly coloured pages, is there anything more exciting to a toddler than that? Follow the Star leads little ones through the Nativity story with peek-inside windows, vivid pictures and bold text. Children are invited on an epic journey of adventure and joy with the three wise men as they journey to the stable. The best bit? This sturdy board book is virtually indestructible (well, probably!)
Recommended Age: 2-4 years
They might not enjoy getting ready to leave the house, but toddlers will enjoy getting ready for Christmas with this animal-filled board book. Featuring a host of favourite farm animals this bright board book is sure to appeal to little Old MacDonald fans, plus a great way to practise those animals sounds!
Recommended Age: 2-4 years
Third in the series of ever popular Christmas board books, Joy to the World is a fun, interactive way to encourage little ones to count and learn more about the Christmas story. Each page features bright pictures introducing little ones to the characters of Christmas alongside bold text. With opportunities to count along with the story, such as ‘two loving parents’ and ‘one baby Jesus’, this little board book is perfect for older toddlers.
Recommended Age: 2-4 years
Who doesn’t like a surprise at Christmas? Littles ones won’t even need to wait until the morning of the 25th to enjoy a Christmas surprise like no other. This bright, cartoon style book starts at the very beginning with creation and God’s promises. In short, simple sentences it explains exactly why the nativity was just so surprising. Not just for really little ones, this bold book includes notes at the back to help Christian parents further explore the Bible with their children.
Recommended Age: 2-4 years
Got an excited little one counting down the days until Christmas? This engaging board book is sure to keep them busy as they wait.
