That’s the beautiful idea behind Mood Bears, a collection of colourful, cuddly companions designed to help children (and adults!) identify, express, and understand their feelings.

Mood Bears are a range of colourful, award-winning teddy bears, each representing a different emotion like Hope, Calm, or Sadness, designed by founder Joanna Proud to help children and adults talk about their feelings and support mental wellbeing.
The Story Behind the Bears
Mood Bears was founded in 2019 by Joanna Proud, a mum who was inspired by her own children. She noticed them struggling to talk about their feelings at school. She had an idea: what if there was a bear for every mood? A cuddly friend that could help them show, and talk about, how they were feeling.
From that simple idea, the Mood Bears were born.
There are eight bears in the core family, each with a colour, a name, and a poem that helps to explain their emotion:
- Hope Bear (Rainbow)
- Love Bear (Pink)
- Happy Bear (Yellow)
- Calm Bear (Green)
- Angry Bear (Red)
- Sad Bear (Blue)
- Nervous Bear (Teal)
- Silly Bear (Purple)
These bears aren't just toys; they are conversation starters. They provide a safe, physical way for a child to say, "I'm feeling a bit like Sad Bear today," opening the door for a supportive chat.
More Than Just a Toy
The mission of Mood Bears is to create a positive impact on mental health and wellbeing. They are now used by parents, teachers, and counsellors to help children build emotional literacy.
We love them because they are a wonderful resource for families. They can help you build a home environment where all feelings are valid and talking about them is normal.
