The church at Philippi was started, during the Apostle Paul's third missionary journey, around 50 or 51 AD. They were definitely not a perfect church but one that was close to his heart.

The Apostle Paul had started it with some of his friends, so he cared deeply about them. The letter itself is known as one of the Prison Epistles. Yet, even under these circumstances he remained joyful and content. Giving us today thousands of years later a blueprint for the right living.
