Luke’s Gospel is a historical record of Jesus’ life. In AD 80, Luke a doctor, collated his account. He did so precisely and methodically. In his introduction, he writes of how he has carefully investigated everything from the beginning by speaking with eyewitnesses who had personally met Jesus. But as we read his account, what emerges is far more than dry history. Luke masterfully paints a portrait of Jesus. A man whose presence brought joy and healing, yet who chose to walk a path of deepest sorrow and shame.

In Luke’s gospel, we meet countless men and women who are transformed as they encounter Jesus and the kingdom of God he spoke about. Throughout history, entire cultures have been transformed as Luke’s Gospel has inspired many to fight for justice and the cause of the oppressed.
