Misinformed and misguided, we unknowingly transform who we are, attempting to adapt and fit in. We ultimately sacrifice the person that we were meant to be, giving up all hope and joy in our lives, so that we may be accepted by others.

Why do we do this? Every one of us desires to be loved and wanted. Every one of us desires to be valued and appreciated. Our never-ending search to quench these desires causes us to change who and what we truly are as we attempt to satisfy those needs with affirmations and validation from others. We are willing to become something other than who we truly are to gain the approval of other people.

This is not the life we were meant to live. This is not who we were created to be. And this is not how life has to be.
