The Mark of Cain is the true story of Isaiah Baity, Jr., a young black man growing up in the South. After hearing a Klansman speak to an enthusiastic audience on a talk show, Isaiah is left pondering the implications of the Mark of Cain.
In his struggle to come to terms with racial prejudice with biblical "sources," he investigates the view that the Mark of Cain is a curse inherited by the blacks, branding them as outcasts who must pay for Cain's sin. This has a great impact on Isaiah and his family as he grows up in the South, a victim of racism and hatred. For years he believes that they suffer because they are cursed, but then as he matures, a caring friend helps him to realize that there is no curse. . . only senseless prejudice. After this spiritual awakening, Isaiah devotes his life to helping those less fortunate and to bringing people together.
Isaiah learns that though he has gone through many hard years, it is serving God that counts in the end, and that there is nothing like sitting at God's feet. The Mark of Cain tells a story that is a testament to the power of God's love to sustain us despite man's mistaken hatred and fear.
