Molly has a strong spirit, but nothing has prepared her for the beauty of challenges of the Arizona desert.

It's 1896 and twenty-one-year-old Molly Hatfield arrives in Cactus Patch following a devastating fire that leaves her hometown of Dobson Creek in ruins. A dance hall girl, she's the sole caretaker of her wheelchair-bound fourteen-year-old brother and can't stop blaming herself for the accident that crippled him. Having lost everything in the fire, she's desperate enough to answer the unusual advertisement for an 'heiress' to a cattle ranch in Arizona Territory. She'll do anything to give her brother a home, even if it means foregoing marriage as the ranch owner insists.

Dr Caleb Fairbanks and his furry sidekick are new to town and he's certain he's never met a woman like Molly. If her purple attire doesn't blind, her dazzling smile will. If only she wasn't so stubborn about her brother's care - or so suspicious of doctors - then Caleb could help the boy become more independent. But as long as Molly persists in overprotecting her brother she and Caleb will never see eye to eye.
