For anyone wanting to deepen their understanding of Jesus

Helps you apply Jesus' teachings in a modern context

You will navigate life's challenges with biblical wisdom

"Teachings of Jesus" reveals timeless lessons for today.
In "Teachings of Jesus", we see how people in the first century would have understood a number of teachings attributed to Jesus and how, 2000 years later, we can live them out in our complicated, broken, yet precious world. Jesus' teachings challenge us, just as they challenged his first listeners long ago. This is an accessible resource for individuals, Bible study groups, homilists and all those who wish to delve deeper into the gospels.

    The Good Book Stall

    Average rating of0.0

This short book contains 25 studies, mostly three to four pages, on various teachings of Jesus in the four gospels (with some reference also to the Gospel of Thomas). It is an attractive book and the author's writing style is easy to read, with some helpful background information on life in first century Palestine. Each study ended with a look at applications to modern life and these were helpful, if quite brief and general. The author's insights into the differences in culture between us and Jesus' time - honour and shame, family relationships, gender roles, the importance of children - were all interesting and helpful. I felt that the studies overall lacked depth, perhaps because of their shortness, but it was good to read and provided plenty of food for thought.
