"The faith and pursuit of God is the same then as it is today."
Seeking to connect the faith of the past with the believers of the present, Leslie Jordan and David Leonard, or as you may know them, All Sons and Daughters, embarked upon a pilgrimage.
With family, friends, and a film crew in tow, the group travelled across Europe, exploring the remarkable lives and faiths of the Poets and Saints and learning from the inspired "words upon which faith was built".
Far from their home of Franklin, Tennessee, from the ranches and wide open spaces which influenced their sweeping sound, the duo delved into new creative depths. Sampling sounds they came across on their pilgrimage, they have reimagined a worship that exist in the meeting between the music of then and now. But, mixing old and new sounds was only ever the beginning.
The heart of the album would always lie in the connection of what is old and what is new, and finding something that is meaningful and true.
Through the lives and words of C.S. Lewis, John Newton, Saint Therese, Saint Francis, William Cowper, Saint Augustine and George MacDonald, All Sons & Daughters have created an album of significant depths. Poets & Saints "takes something that is ancient and plants it in the present to wake us up."
Over 10 unique songs, each one inspired by the words that formed faith, Poets & Saints doesn't shy from brokenness, but uses it to show God's glory and power.
It embraces the words of Saint Augustine who wrote that:
"You cannot change, and yet You change everything".
Along with the album, All Sons & Daughters have created a book, as well as a course, which further connects the lives of great Poets & Saints with our own. There are separately available.
