Early Pentecostalism in Ireland in the context of the British Isles
This study examines at the local scale the origin, development and nature of Pentecostalism in Ireland in its first twenty years. It examines the background to the arrival of Pentecostalism in Ireland in 1908. It analyses the factors that led to the formation of the three classical Pentecostal denominations in the British Isles: Elim, the Apostolic Church and the Assemblies of God. Elim is distinguished from the other two by having its origin in Ulster. The book sets the growth of early Pentecostalism in the Province within the distinctive religio-cultural context of Ulster Protestantism and the historical circumstances associated with the earlier ‘Troubles’ in Ireland.
